Full-day & half-day classes

Our tuition sessions run as either a full day or a half day, giving you the flexibility to choose the depth of learning that suits you. Whether you want a taster of the craft or a more thorough introduction, we tailor the session to your pace and interests.

Classes are kept deliberately small — a maximum of three students — so you receive close, personal guidance throughout. There is no rushing, no large group to keep up with, just focused, hands-on learning in a working bindery.

Our classes are designed to be accessible to complete beginners. You do not need any prior knowledge of bookbinding or craft work to join us. We start from the very beginning, introducing you to the tools, materials, and techniques used in traditional hand binding.

Those who already have some experience are equally welcome. We are happy to work at a more advanced level, exploring specific techniques or tackling a project you have in mind.

We can arrange short courses and individual one-to-one tuition for those who prefer a more private or structured learning experience. These sessions can be shaped around a particular binding style, a personal project, or a specific skill you want to develop.

Our bindery is based at Unit 12, Star Brewery, Castle Ditch Lane, in the centre of Lewes — a working studio where you will learn alongside the tools and materials used every day in professional hand bookbinding.
